Chi Energy Therapy
Also known as Healing Touch or Therapeutic Touch
Therapeutic or Healing Touch is a form of energy healing that is taught in nursing schools and practiced by those who have a continued interest in providing this holistic treatment to a variety of illness and diseases. Acupuncture and Therapeutic Touch are two forms of therapy which facilitate the focusing of additional energy to wounds and parts of the body that are diseased, or painful. It can relieve pain, without the side effects of drugs, and can speed healing from injury and surgery.
This process deals with the energy field, which flows around and through the human body and extends several inches beyond the skin. It is the same type of energy, which is manipulated by pacemakers to regulate the heart rhythms. It is the same field measured by an MRI to assess certain illnesses or conditions of the body. It is also the same energy field, which has been used for centuries in Eastern practices of Yoga, Martial Arts, as well as Eastern Medicine's Holistic healing procedures.
Therapeutic Touch does not require any actual physical contact or touching of the body or skin. It is done through manipulation, by the practitioner, of the energy field 3 to 5 inches above the body surface. The participant remains fully clothed throughout the treatment.
If at any time you feel uncomfortable, or want to discontinue, please inform the practitioner and the process will stop immediately. This is an opportunity for you to participate in a relaxing, calming experience, which will not interfere with any other medical treatment, or medication that you are currently receiving.
Scientific studies were done using therapeutic touch. It was used on half the patients in a study on puncture wound healing time. The other half of patients did not receive therapeutic touch. The results were surprising. The patients who had therapeutic touch healed in about 1/2 to 1/3 the amount of time of the patients who didn't receive therapeutic touch. ** It will cause you to relax, rebuild, and replenish. It is perfectly safe, and can't harm you in any way. It may help speed healing in all areas. It is classified as a holistic form of treatment, and is used in addition to any other medical treatment or medication you are receiving currently. It will compliment the process.
It is not intended to "cure" or replace current treatment.
